SUMMARY:Unpacking the Anti-Gender Movement: Financing\, Narratives and Policy Impacts in Europe and Beyond
DESCRIPTION:This conference\, hosted by Marc Angel\, brings together experts to discuss the roots & impacts of the anti-gender movement in Europe & beyond \nIn recent years\, the so-called anti-gender movement has gained significant influence across Europe and worldwide. By opposing gender equality\, LGBTQI+ rights\, and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR)\, these movements have managed to shape political narratives and even policy outcomes. Their reach is amplified through well-organized transnational networks\, strong media presence\, and crucially sustained financing from both domestic and foreign sources. Understanding the origins of these funds\, the strategies employed to influence public opinion and institutions\, and the policy areas where they have succeeded in reversing or blocking rights-based progress is essential. Equally important is exploring how democratic actors\, policymakers\, and civil society can counter these narratives with evidence-based\, inclusive\, and rights-oriented approaches. \nGuest speakers are: \n-Neil Datta\, Executive Director and Founder of the European Parliamentary Forum for Sexual and Reproductive Rights \n-Rémy Bonny\, Executive Director of Forbidden Colours \n– Enrica Pianaro\, Co-founder of LEQGF – Laboratoire d’Études Queer\, sur le Genre et les Féminismes a.s.b.l. \n– Claire Schadeck\, Project coordinator at CID | Fraen an Gender. \nThe conference will be moderated by Isabel Spigarelli\, Journalist at Tageblatt.
